Raised in New Jersey, based out of Los Angeles, CarlJ first got his start in the music industry by filming promotional videos for music artists in the tri- state area. Carl began posting tracks under his name on Soundcloud, releasing his debut mixtape Loners and Stoners, quickly gaining a local following in the New Jersey-New York area. Carl relocated to Los Angeles in July 2017, where he not only continues to make music but is involved in many other outlets of media including videos and clothing. On November 1st, 2017 Carl dropped his sophomore mixtape, Midnight. Since then, Carl has dropped music religiously, and tries to read any boundary that holds him; constantly progressing. Carl not only takes influence from his New Jersey roots but also draws from the style of his contemporaries, such as Lil Uzi Vert, Nav, Lil Peep, Men At Work & Mac Miller.
“Expect, nothing. My music is based off of my mood, my inspirations at the moment. Having an expectation, especially in a creative platform, I don’t want to do. Instead, I want you to expect that I’m going to bring you the unexpected. Look out for a lot of alternative, disco, rap, and many other elements.”
